General Store

In the rural south, the country store was the lifeline of the community. It provided provisions that were not farmed. It served as the local transportation stop. And on election day, it was the gathering place to hear about the results. As the 1800s migrated into the 1900s, the importance of the country store remained.

The John Blue House and Heritage Center has refurbished a store from the early 1900s and provide it as an exhibit. From the soda fountain to old time signs, you’ll be transformed back to an earlier time.
