Dining Room

The dining room is, perhaps, the most unique room in the home. This room (and the kitchen) predate the home and date back to the 1830s and ‘40s. In fact, while the rest of the house was being built, Mr. Blue and his wife lived in those two rooms. The corner closet was also original with the room.

Since the kitchen and dining room predate the home, Mr. Blue did not run electricity to them. Instead, you can see the hook in the ceiling that was used to raise and lower the lighting….in this case lanterns or candles.

After the remainder of the house was complete, the room was turned into the dining room and was used for formal occasions.

The walls have been completely restored, 12 coats of paint were removed – with the final coat being the blue that has now been reapplied.
